1. Think about the women who grew up in the 1960s. What do you think they are telling their granddaughters about the changes they experienced? Use the textbook and the information that you discovered on the websites to review the events of the second wave of the women’s movement in one of the following areas: education, work, family life, politics, or sports.

Then write a letter to “your” granddaughter explaining how the roles of women changed in that area during the 1960s and 1970s and explain how those roles have continued to change since then.

Your letter should be at least two pages and include some information from 1960s through the present time. Consider interviewing a family member or friend who might be able to share a perspective with you. Remember to describe what life was like and what you hope it will be like for your granddaughter. This is a graded assignment.

Dear Granddaughter,
Many things have changed since the 1960's. You are growing up, and should learn more about how much things have changed, and what you should be doing in this time. Before us, my mother, and my grandmother, they both stayed home, cooked, did chores and took care of the house. Years ago, my mother, when doing some chores, such as washing clothes, had to use a single tub of water, to wash our clothes. She would put in the whites, then the colored, then the jeans. Back then, some people had refrigerators, but I didn't, we had to have an ice box, or just have to eat food that wouldn't need ice. Everyone sewed. We had to make our own clothes and we only got 2 pairs of shoes, one for school, and one for church.

Clothes weren't in a “bundle” as we have them today, we had one nice set of clothes, for school, and about 2-3 shirts and jeans to wear any other time. We didn't have all of the technology you have today, we had no TV dinners, no microwaves,...
