4G Wireless Networks

4G is the fourth generation of wireless network services. Now currently most carriers are still using 3G network and integrating to the 4G network. Currently three carriers (AT&T, Verizon, and Sprint) have integrated 4G services and phones to consumers. 4G was designed to optimize data over the network, improving the speed and efficiency of data delivery. Consumers will be able to place a call and connect to the internet at the same time. With implements of 4G among the carriers may vary from LTE to WiMax. In this report it will compare and contrast 3G networks to 4G networks, and distinguish between the 4G LTE, 4G WiMax, and 4G WiBro networks.

Compare 3G Network to 4G Network
3G network was introduction around the beginning of 2000. 3G network provided consumers the ability to send and receive SMS, MMS, and introduce e-mal to device for the first time. Now 3G have a list of network services like CDMA, UMTS, and EDGE that are offered. While 4G network offer services like LTE, WiMax, and WiBro services. 3G opened a new world that allows users to stream video and audio, video calling, and video conferencing. 4G applications allow users to have high definition television, IP telephony and even 3D television. The 3G mobile network is a Wide Area Cell Base network. The data are sent through Packet Switching and voice calls are interpreted through Circuit Switching. The 4G network doesn’t use circuit-switch system. The 4G network uses a wireless LAN and Wide Area which is pure packet base Internet Protocol IP) system. Data request travels from the satellite to a central office using a microwave technology. In return, the users are able to connect to the data using a wired network to the internet.

3G data throughout rate is up to 3.1 Mbps with a bandwidth of 5 to 20 MHz. 4G data throughout rate is 3 to 5 Mbps but in recent study estimating at 100 to 300 Mbps with...
