Unit 9 Final Essay
Our United States Corrections System has two specific ways into having people pay for their crimes. One way is punishment. People of the victims or even the victims believe this is the best way to get their justice. The second is rehabilitation. This way is good to give an offender a second chance in society and it gives them self- being. This also gives them the opportunity to accomplish academic and trading skills. The first question is, “How does our correctional system punish offenders?” Our United States correctional system has a profound influence for people who are law- breakers. People who are at high risk for violence, substance abuse, mental illness, infectious diseases, and other criminal activity pose a threat into society and safety. This is the reasoning for offenders and ex- offenders have incentives and penalties for these behaviors. The goals of the corrections system are deterrence and they assess the offenders’ issues and crimes so they are able to punish them accordingly. One fundamental is the conclusion that crime decisions are affected by sanction risk perceptions that aren’t a sufficient condition for concluding the policy may deter a crime. If their perceptions are manipulated by a policy, the desired deterrent cannot be achieved correctly.
